I don't know if this could be more of a mess...
Mainly I want to know I'm doing everything on my end to better the situation, not make it worse, currently designing in CMYK MODE with CMYK colors.
I thought most of this was monitor issues until I sent the image of the design/athlete in draft, it was washed out and purplish, basically RGB monitor replicating CMYK colors... if I can see the color shift already the problem has to be on my end.
the run down...
I need to have images available for web and 'email-verification' while protecting their integrity for print.
Package design for print-CMYK
Renders for web-RGB
Do I design in RGB MODE for online advertisements and use CMYK colors to prepare for CMYK print, or just work in CMYK MODE entirely?
OR Should I just work in RGB until final conversion to CMYK?
I am going to assume that I should be in 'RGB Color Mode using CMYK colors..
1) To emulate the final result so the proofs don't appear more saturated/colorful than they will actually be
2) So the conversion from RGB to CMYK is accurate with little color shift
3) So the online elements/advertisements resemble the final product accurately in RGB
Also, the RGB image/photo of athlete was placed within the CMYK AI file and was exported and emailed for verification: remember - set up as CMYK - and it appeared washed out and the blues were purplish. How do I avoid these issues during the design process?
I have a client that is proofing images on monitors that are not calibrated, they send me screenshots of what the image looks like on their screen -I have so many issue with this.
1) the monitors are not calibrated
2) the brighteness/contrast will never be identical to mine
3) the same image looks different in the inbox vs once downloaded opened and viewed and sent back to me.
((the only 'positive' is that I can see what they want changed, but that is causing more problems the next time around))
FOR PRINT FINAL - I have asked for the final format/file of type/set up - requested by the Print Agency for verification of end process.
I don't plan on printing anything without getting a physical printed proof for verification first. and I already had to print one to show how using the monitors as a 'gauge' can get us in long circle of color changes that aren't needed.
I know it long and there are multiple issues going on, even if a few of you have specifics to assist and chime in that would be great!
Thank You!
