How to get this bevel effect in Illustrator CS6?

Hi Guys

How do I get the beveled effect like the one applied on the "Budweiser" text in this logo?

I know that I'll have to work with different layers and appearance layer effects. But how do I get the grey gradient-overlayed paths in the right form and position?
