How would you recreate this with Pathfinder?

Several days ago I was playing around with the Pathfinder and created this shape. I rather like the look of it, and wanted to go back and make some adjustments, but I can't for the life of me figure out what combination of Pathfinder options I used to achieve it. (NOTE: the green object is a flat unified single object, this is the main thing I am trying to recreate, a single unified path of the stroke.)

I initially created the object by taking a rounded rectangle with a stroke and rotating and copying around a central point, then adding a circle on top of it all. I expanded the shapes so I'd have separate paths for the stroke, and main rectangle shape. I recall only using a few Pathfinder clicks, it wasn't the cleanest job because I had to use Simplify to remove a lot of redundant points, but it was fairly quick.

Because of the way that all the rectangles are layered on top of one another, no matter what I do I can't seem to replicate it correctly. Every end product ends up looking like this in some way or another. I just can't figure out what I did to get that unified green path that maintains the layered rectangle look on the edges.

Do any of you have some insight on how I might go about recreating this object? Or on unifying paths from multiple layered shapes?
