How to reshape a star selecting all its edges at once and how to make symmetric nodes?

I'm trying to catch up with this tutorial: http://vector.tutsplus.com/tutorials/illustration/create-an-adorable-h edgehog-with-basic-tools-in-inkscape/

But I've got two problems

It's written in the article that I should use the Star Tool, So after using the star tool I got this:

Now is there anyway to select all those edges and reshape all at the same time to get to that shape drawn in the article (The first photo I have posted) ?

Second problem:

What does the article mean by "Nodes Tool"?

It's written there that I should draw a triangle using the polygon tool and then using Nodes tool > Make selected nodes symmetric I will get that shape in the photo above, But I cannot find neither the Nodes tool nor the symmetric nodes option

I'm using Adobe Illustrator CC
