Custom Artboard presets in Illustrator?

The question was asked in another thread, but not really answered.  I work at an ad designing firm, and we are in the process of importing lots of ads that were made by a formerly outsourced agency.  Many of the ads were made in Adobe Indesign.  The people exporting are exporting as EPS files for illustrator.

But when pulling the EPS into Illustrator, it defaults the size of the artboard to whatever size it was for the last "New Document" made. (For example, if you made a new document in Illustrator with a 20pt x 20 pt. size artboard, then the EPS (which was exported from an InDesign document), when it is opened in Illustrator, will have a 20pt x 20pt size artboard - regardless of what the native size the artboard was when it was exported from InDesign.

One way around this that I found was to export the InDesign file as a PDF.  The exported PDF will open in Illustrator with the correct size artboard (i.e., the size that the artboard was in InDesign).  But my superiors would like to be able to export directly from InDesign to EPS (Illustrator).  So we need a way to fix it so that the exported EPS will open with an artboard that's the correct size.

I have tried to make a workaround by using the 'Artboard' tool options.  It has a number of artboard preset sizes (such as for ipads, iphones, A5, and so on).  But none of the standard sizes for the artboard presets conform to the sizes we need for our ad templates.

Is it possible yet to make your own Artboard preset sizes and include them in the list of choices?  If so, how is it done?  Someone suggested writing a script, but I am no scriptorian.

Any advice is most welcome -

Thanks in advance
