Fonts Disappear

Win 7 SP2; AI CS6

I have intalled fonts using the install button on the windows font viewer.  At first, AI sees all the fonts.  Then, later, the fonts are gone. (They have an asterisk next to it, but it does not come up in the missing fonts list.)
