Shortcuts get out of functionality

Hello

When I use zoom tool (in or out) in an atrwork in illustrator (cs5) then shortcuts don't work. so I have to even a click on an empty area or push (Esc) button

to get back functionality of the shortcuts.

Is it a real problem?

If so , how can I solve the problem?
