Font size?

Hey people,

I created a document in Illustrator for a scientific publication and I'm about to finish it. Right now I'm trying to adapt the font size of all my figure legends, graph descriptions and so forth, and I realized that some of my text boxes have the same font size, but the actual size on the artboard is different. Below you see the screenshot: The box with the word "control" and the other boxes with "KinC" and so on have all the same the font size (14pt), but as you can see the word on the right side is clearly bigger!! The font is always Helvetica Bold.

I assume it was a problem of scaling my objects/groups/elements for a couple of time, but I thought that the font size actually changes when I scale objects? D'you know what I mean?

So the question now is: How can I put it restore it to the normal setting? Because creating a new text field now in let's say font size 14 gives me too small letters compared to a word document.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!!!
