Adding text to a eps?

Hi.

I downloaded a eps file from shutterstock. It is easy all editable and I downloaded Adobe Illustrator trial version.

I was able to add text at one point of the image.

I want to be able to add another section of text and add the splatter effect to the writting.

The problem is is where the splatter effect takes shape the resulting white background is present rather than the back ground of the the image.

I am a noob to illustrator so I am just wondering how easy it will be to achieve what I want to do.

I can see the image has one layer and then is stippled in to clip groups, groups etc.

I am not sure how hard it is to achieve what I want to do.

Any help much appreciated?
