I have very specific guidelines as to how I need this design exported from illustrator to photoshop.

 

I need the image to be 20x20, 300 dpi+, NO antialiasing, with layers written. I have done this probably over a 1000 times before, and have never once ran into this problem before.

 

I have been on chat support with both Adobe, and Apple, and neither had ANY help for my problem.

 

I have tried different files, so I know its not file specific.

 

I have tried different computers, so I know it is not computer specific.

 

This has to be a problem with the ADOBE software. Every time I try to export file (with multiple layers, on 1 art board) I get the message "can not export to .psd."

 

This has been very frustrating, and is basically forcing me to miss a deadline. I have to say, that I am very reluctant to continue paying a monthly fee for software that half works. Every time there is an update something goes wrong with the software.

 

Before the last software update I was able to export this file at 600dpi with no antialiasing NO PROBLEM. So what gives?

 

Anyone know any work arounds, fixes, solutions?

I have set the permissions in preferences and on hard drive - same error.

I've posted before, but I really need a solution.

Out of the blue, Illustrator started misbehaving. I use creative suite 5.5 with Windows 7.

When I try to create a new file, I get the message "the file "print.ai" is in an unknown format and cannot be opened." I accept the message and continue. After seeing the message pop up again, I finally get to a new message "Can't create a new Illustration. The command was cancelled."

I can open previously created Illustrator files.

I am willing to pay for a solution!!!!!

For some reason illustrator has stopped launching from either double clicking a file in Bridge or double clicking vector smart art in Photoshop.

Any idea how to fix this? it is killing my workflow

Any thoughts?

 

I was working in .ai all day then decided (probably incorrectly) to update to El Capitan.  Upon restart the issue started.

All other Apps work fine, Photoshop right click for instance.  I have shutdown/restarted/zapped user prefs/updated Illustrator....

I am relatively new to Illustrator and have been struggling all day with moving images around and keeping lines locked at both ends to two images. In short, Im using a mac and working with Illustrator CC 2014 and making a poster. At the center is a map, at the edge is an image of a place on the map. Im trying to draw a line from the image to the map without having to move the line every time I adjust the image placement.

When attempting to save changes to a file, the above error presents itself.  I've seen this with apps other than Illustrator, but usually it is because somebody else had the file open or another program had it open on the user's system.  Not the case here.  The current environment is a Win7 box with CC, accessing a file on a network share.  I've tried the easy stuff such as:

 

-Opened file from both explorer (with preview disabled & enabled) and within AI to make sure it wasn't an issue with how the file was opened by each application.

-Closed all Adobe apps and services, rebooted. Cleared connections to file share. Same issue after reboot.

-Opened file, chose "Save-As", "Save-As Copy", and even tried to open a new file and import ("Place") file.

-Navigated to NTFS level permissions and verified Read-Only isn't checked on the file. User did have correct permissions and used owner/full rights account settings. 

-Copied file to local system. No error when attempting to save. Copied file from local system to network location and the problem returned.

At this point I am out of ideas as to why this file is detected to be in-use by the application when opening from a network share vs a local directory.  I've verified permissions, file security attributes, even created duplicate files and cleared sessions to the network share and I cannot get this file to open via share.  This has happened in the past with other files, the user says, but currently this is the only culprit right now.

Hey everyone,

I'm fairly new to Illustrator although proficient in PS and Painter and "analog" drawing/painting. I'm working on some storyboards that are to be passed to an animator and what would otherwise be simple line drawings need to have some layers filled. My problem is that when drawing objects, there are always some lines that don't "close" the shape even when they look like they are. For instance, when drawing a head, I might use 4 or 5 lines to construct the basic outline, but when I go to fill it, it's a mess because some of the paths didn't connect. This is huge workflow problem on more complex drawings. Is there a simple way to get around this? And while we're at it, is there a way to draw more naturally, ie. without closing every shape, and get a fillable result? Thanks.

I just bought xerox 6600 phaser for my stationery and have been having trouble printing from illustrator. Everything seems to be printing rasterized with out me asking it to. Any suggestions?

I started illustrator on my new laptop, the screen flickers and I'm unable to do any work. you can see a quick video screen capture video  on youtube

I updated my video drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled several times. and used clean install from adobe

When removing gradient mesh paths, I get these ugly results, any way to fix them, I'm leaning towards, no; and I must manually adjust the knot curves ?

Scenario: Start with a named graphic style of say 2 pt black stroke/no fill called '2.0 pt'. Create an object using said style, copy and paste it, every time I do this I get '2.0 pt 1', '2.0 pt 2', '2.0 pt 3' etc. insanely populating my graphic styles panel. Anybody else experience this behaviour or is it just my set up and something I have to troubleshoot?

 

This is with CS6 (16.0.4) running on Mac OS X.6.8

 

Any help, much appreciated

Problem with the Mesh Tool in illustrator.

When attempting to use the mesh tool on an object in illustrator CC, it gives the following error "The operation cannot be completed due to an error."

This happened on my school's iMac and my Macbook Pro on two separate unrelated documents.

I'm currently running OS X Yosemite and my school's iMac runs Mavericks.

I'm using Illustrator 19.2.1, and my school's version should be up to date as well. Does anybody else have this issue?

 

Both files were made on the school's iMac which gives me no errors other than the one mentioned.

But if I take those contents and cut and paste into a new document made on my MBP, the mesh tool works just fine.

 

Worse case scenario I can just move the objects to a new document. But is there a way to fix this issue? Thanks!

I am trying to open .svg files in Illustrator CC 2015 to create vector files from Flash CC 2015. Illustrator keeps on crashing every time I try and open the files. Can this be fixed??
