there's something about using gradients in live paint groups I have been trying to figure out. i set up two objects here as a test. the oval inside the green box is a live paint group, the bottom is the same oval as a separate object for comparison. so, i make a live paint group, colour it in, then use the live paint selection tool to add a gradient to the oval (edges hidden for clarity).
so far so good. then I want to rotate the gradient, so i type 90 degrees into the angle box for both gradients.
what's going on here? the live paint gradient doesn't seem to be rotating around the centre of the oval. maybe it's rotating around the centre of the whole group?
but if I slide the gradient right up to one end, where is all that white space coming from? is the gradient rotating around its edge, rather than its centre? is there a better way of controlling gradients in live paint? where's my potty?
