This has been a recurring problem thoughout many versions of Adobe Illustrator: I use the Divide tool to cut simple shapes. Eg., if you draw four overlapping lines, select them, and then click the Divide button on the PathFinder options, it joins the lines into a polygon. I've been using this feature daily for years. Sometimes it fails, giving me a message that says "Filter produced no results. Please select one or more filled paths ." and erases my lines. Sometimes it gives me no message and erases my lines.
In the past, I've been able to get over this problem by restarting the computer or copying my artwork into a new file. However, with CC, none of my typical work arounds work. I'm stuck. I can't copy a line from one object and use it to trim another object. I hope this is just a bug that will be corrected soon.
Does anyone have any experience and solutions to the problem?
