I need to slice up an image for a website. I saw a video tutorial some time back that showed a really useful and accurate way of doing it which I used once but now can't find it.
Using the slice tool I dragged a box around the image which takes up the whole canvas in illustrator. The slice tool snaps to the canvas size.
Then to divide it up. I go: Object/Slice/Divide Slices.
A dialogue box appears giving me options on the number of horizontal and vertical slices.
Then using the slice select tool I should be able to adjust the position of each cut.
This is where it all goes haywire for me. When I drag the cut line, it drags the line and creates an additional slice which I don't want leaving the cut that I just moved unchanged. I simply want to adjust the position of the cut.
Have I missed something? What am I doing wrong?
I know it can be done because I've done it successfully before. Why can't I get the same results each time?
I've read quite a few comments on similar buggy issues with the slice tool dating back to 2009.
Has Adobe even tried to address any of these issues?
I thought it may have been a 'preferences' issue and was staggered to see the only preference you can even change is the colour of the outline.
Come on Adobe! Is this tool just a TOY? or is it a professional tool to be used with accuracy like the rest of the program?
