I have a pdf that I downloaded which is a very simple vector image and is a mere 5 kb. I am trying to create similar vectors, but when I save the pdfs, they never come out less than 45 kb, even with the smallest file size preset. Even openning a new document and saving nothing at all results in a file that is 40 kb. I'm new-ish to AI, so it is possible that I am not optimizing this correctly or that there are ways to compress vectors that I am not aware of.
And yes, those 40 or so kb really matter.
This is just a screenshot of the pdf (opened in AI) containing this hat vector. It is 5 kb. When I simply draw a rectangle and save it as a pdf, it is 9 times this in file size. Any tips?
